Taking as motifs the gods and divine beasts found across Japan and Asia, I visualize unseen beings and energies from my own perspective. The unseen beings and mystical powers I paint are rooted in nature worship (animism) and in Asian mythology and thought. As culture developed from an age when humans lived close to unseen beings, those presences have faded from our awareness. That is precisely why I want to express them through art, so that people can feel these unseen beings close at hand.

燃え立つ赤と黄の空、うねる緑の雲。その中を、宝冠をいただいた神獣が、武器を携えて猛然と駆け抜けていく。
宮間夕子による「猛進の孤高」。ただひとり、まっすぐに突き進む存在の強さと気高さを描いた一枚だ。緻密に描き込まれた装飾と、激しく渦巻く色彩が、見る人の背中を力強く押してくれる。守護の力を宿す、エネルギーに満ちた作品。
