Plush toys as “art you can embrace”
Plush sculpture artist. After working at a design office, she began her career as an artist in 2002. She launched the plush brand “Chikro circus,” with plush toys and goods produced by Yoshitoku Co., Ltd. In a collaboration with Disney Store, limited-edition Mickey & Friends plush toys in the Imai Sayaka style were released.
Describing plush toys as “art you can embrace,” she brings soft beings into the real world through precise sewing and the craft of giving them form, breathing life into each one. A plush toy is like a “soft mirror” that reflects our own image. When we face a plush toy, we confront ourselves, as if looking into a mirror.
