Jagaichiro fuses "anime and manga culture" with "comedy culture" through painting, sculpture, murals and live painting. Building on Japanese subculture and layering in traditional Japanese painting and calligraphy, he has recently abstracted graffiti, manga onomatopoeia and Jomon-like ritual patterns, exploring the territory between symbol and language, abstraction and figuration. He now pursues self-sufficiency in the countryside near Tokyo, seeking to merge agriculture and art.
Born in Mie in 1976. Former studio assistant to Takashi Murakami; A2A Silver Award, 2024.
