Profile

Malee Naree is the pseudonym of Watcharakoranan Panya, a female artist from Chiang Mai. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, in 2007, and in 2016 went on to a master’s degree in Thai Art at the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University, Thailand. In 2019 she held her first solo exhibition, “MALEE NAREE” (Malee means flower; Naree means woman), conveying the story of the love and warmth of a woman who gives birth through the symbolism of natural flora, in the form of contemporary Thai ideals. Malee Naree now works as an independent artist, using painting and sculpture techniques to create symbolic works on Buddhist philosophy and nature, which are interrelated and mutually supportive across many dimensions between humans, nature and mind. Regarding art as a medium for refining the human spirit, her work pursues a philosophy of living a worthwhile life.
