Profile

On the theme of “strong women,” I paint portraits of women together with dinosaurs, symbols of strength and evolution.

With the equality of men and women as my concept, I express the value of femininity through a cyberpunk worldview. In the devastated future of cyberpunk, women are portrayed living with strength, and that way of being is the very image of womanhood that is my theme. I overlay this onto a future in which our lives are becoming ever more digital, suggesting that, as long-held values shift, people too are called upon to update themselves.

I also create works of dinosaurs, symbols of evolution, depicting the mighty beings of ancient times in contrast to futuristic women. Dinosaurs flourished for an immensely long time, and at the end of their age the Tyrannosaurus reigned as king. Its fossils hold every memory of continuous evolution and adaptation to the environment since the dawn of the dinosaurs, and remain with us today even in death.

Now, at a turning point in history, as theoretical and rational work is taken on by AI, femininity will be in demand in a coming world where sensibility holds value. In an age when this femininity shines, the strength to survive like the dinosaurs will be needed.

In the spirit of learning from the old to understand the new, I will continue to paint my series of women and dinosaurs, in which women receive the wisdom of evolution from the dinosaurs so that they may thrive in the future.
