Profile

Born into a family in which my grandfather was a Shinto priest and my grandmother the head priest of a Buddhist temple, I grew up close to Shinto and Buddhism, and began drawing under the influence of a cousin who later became an animator. After graduating from the Department of Painting at Tama Art University and working as a freelance illustrator, I began working as an artist in 2024.
Finding common ground between anime and Edo-period painting, I fuse traditional Japanese materials with contemporary techniques such as airbrush and acrylic paint, painting Edo painting as I imagine it in the “now.” Among my works featuring animals regarded as auspicious in East Asia, my signature tiger series stands as a symbol of “power,” expressing the spirit that confronts every kind of calamity, and is painted as a presence that inspires the viewer.
