浦山直樹の「KING」シリーズより「WEST KING」。西の王である獅子は、東の王である虎「EAST KING」と対をなす存在だ。アクリルと真鍮箔で描かれた画面は、古典的な肖像画の威厳と、動物が本来持つ野性の気品を同時に宿している。二枚を並べれば、東西の王が向かい合う壮麗な空間が生まれる。
