YOZO KELENMI:
YOZO KELENMI is an artist who reflects Japanese anime expression, particularly satsuei shori (the compositing and photographic effects stage), in his own visual style. Since the 1990s, anime production has advanced dramatically through the evolution of digital technology. KELENMI’s central aim is to deftly extract these digital elements and reconstruct them within analog works. Beyond simply incorporating anime expression, he devotes careful attention to composition so that each work stands on its own as a painting. The decorative tag in the lower right of his works expresses his wish to free painting from its aloof image as something “lofty” and to make it, like Japanese anime, “something always present in daily life and easy to embrace.” Through this approach, YOZO KELENMI creates a singular world of expression that transcends the boundary between anime and art.

ABOUT THE WORKAbout the work
