“Puspa,” blooming amid life’s imperfections

Beauty and happiness blooming amid life’s imperfections
I created the character “Puspa” as a symbol of happiness that blooms even in life’s darkest moments.
I was once bound by society’s standards of “success” — a high income, a home of my own, a car, a life of luxury.
Working day after day at my main job and a side job as well, my heart sank deeply in the face of a worsening economy, anxiety about the future and the responsibility of becoming a father.
Then one day, at a congested intersection in Bangkok, my eyes fell on a young girl selling flower garlands.
Seeing her keep her smile no matter how many times she was turned away, I came to realize that “true happiness lies not in perfection or in other people’s standards, but in accepting the life that is mine, here and now.”
When I set out on my path as an artist, I gave that memory form as “Puspa.”
A girl holding a flower garland, with hair like a lotus blossom.
In Buddhism, the lotus is a symbol of wisdom and enlightenment.
To me, Puspa is a symbol of hope and awareness — one that brought light to my heart through dark days.
