Profile

I create paintings that reinterpret Japanese folktales from my own perspective, reconstructing them with a playful, contemporary sensibility.

While building on the structures and archetypes of folktales, I use pop characters and vivid colors free from the fixed conventions of the stories, gathering scenes from different timelines within a single picture plane to express a fantastical, gently offbeat and humorous world.
