Profile

The theme of my work is “the joy of decay.” I believe that to decay is to prepare to be reborn as something new. Tilling the fields led me to reflect on decay, and through that I remembered that I, too, had experienced a mental “decay” after painful events in my past. I felt strongly that all of that decay had played an important role in the new beginning that followed. A creature called “Posemin” appears in my work. I began drawing it as an emotional support when I was in a state of mental decay. Posemin may therefore be, in a sense, my own rebirth.

ABOUT THE WORK關於作品

ピンクの生き物「ポセミン」が、背中いっぱいに苔や草花、きのこが茂る大きな塊を抱えている。それはまるで、小さな森そのものを運んでいるかのようだ。

松本悠以の作品テーマは「腐る喜び」。腐ることは、次の何かへと生まれ変わるための準備だという。畑を耕す日々の中でその思考を深め、精神的に辛かった時期の心の支えとして描き始めたのがポセミンだった。タイトルは「やがて森になる君へ」。色鉛筆で幾重にも描き重ねられた繊細な画面に、いのちの循環への静かな祈りが込められている。
