Building on works influenced by Japanese subculture, I fuse them with traditional Nihonga and calligraphy in pursuit of layered expression. In recent years I have combined and abstracted graffiti, manga onomatopoeia and Jomon-like magical patterns, exploring the expressive possibilities of sign and language, abstraction and figuration.
