In today’s information society, the internet can tell us most of what we do not know.

Yet at the same time, I sense something frightening in how the majority opinion comes to decide what is “correct.”

Opinions, which ought to be as many as there are people, are easily ranked by the number of likes on the comments beneath them.

Amid all this, I noticed that I, too, was unconsciously searching for the “correct answer.”

In the words I post on social media when a favorite performer retires, or in my impressions of a film, I search for a right answer in emotions that should have none, and lose sight of my own true opinion.

Only while listening to music could I be honest with myself. Listening to all kinds of music, I recall my own sincere feelings, which belong to no one else’s opinion.

I think this is because music acts as a kind of trigger that draws out emotion and memory.

In this way, by preserving in painting, through the scenery I saw at that moment, the nameless emotions that music awakens, I work to give each of them its own value.
