The “D” in the title embraces three concepts: “Draw,” “Detail” and “Dépaysement.” Through these elements, the work aims at an expression that is chaotic yet conceals meticulous detail.

In this series, an evolution from my previous solo exhibition “Draw and Hide,” planned blurring and chance overlaps give the work its depth; I have named this technique “Jiggle Painting.”

Profile

Born on Ishigaki Island; based in Tokyo.

Worked for ten years as an in-house designer at graniph. The character “Control Bear,” created in 2008, attracted attention, leading to an art project in which ten up-and-coming young designers created freely, a collaboration with the Paris select shop colette, and the opening of a flagship store at Laforet Harajuku. Has also produced numerous paintings, monuments and merchandise. Since 2022, has led a variety of projects and solo exhibitions centered on the character “IGU,” using NFTs as a tool.
